This collection of vocal and instrumental transcriptions covers a huge span, from Hildegard von Bingen's 11th Century Medieval Chant Ordo Virtutum to Meredith Monk's 20th Century epic work NY Requiem. In looking for a passionate subject that might tie composers from many periods into one recording, I settled on Loss. All of these pieces place an emphasis on slow tempi, melodic lines ripe with melancholy and emotional harmonic tension.
